Trenchless Pipe Lining: No More Digging Up the Whole Yard Just To Fix Your Plumbing!

Plumbing repairs under the lawn? Under concrete? Under sidewalk or the driveway?

As any homeowner knows, these situations can be unfortunate and extremely costly. Luckily, there’s a way to access and repair damaged pipelines with no digging, called Trenchless Pipe Lining, and Pipe Bursting.

These repairs are done underground, with special equipment that can save you thousands of dollars and the headache of digging up your yard or driveway, while doing a high-quality repair that can last you 20+ years.

Some advantages include:

  • No excavators, labourers, or city costs to repair sidewalk or reroute traffic while the digging work is happening,
  • No damaged driveways or loud jackhammers
  • No need to rip up your yard or landscaping.
  • Lower cost compared to traditional pipe replacement techniques

Trenchless Pipe Lining vs Dig-and-Repair Plumbing

Most people know how dig-and-repair plumbing works: when a pipe bursts, cracks, or collapses, a large section of ground is dug up to fix the defective plumbing.

Trenchless pipe lining is still a fairly new plumbing process that is unfortunately not very well-known, but may be better suited in many cases.

Trenchless can usually be done with no digging, although sometimes one access area needs to be dug (as opposed to digging up the entire pipe).

A tube coated with epoxy resin is inserted into the broken pipeline using a pressurization and inversion process with our special equipment. The resin sets inside the pipe, leaving a slightly narrower but equally functional waste or supply system in its wake.

Another way to repair damaged pipes using trenchless methods is through a process called “pipe bursting.” This can be useful if the pipe is collapsed but still has enough room to get a wire cable through it. This involves a cable being routed through the old collapsed pipe and typically two access holes being dug at either end of the pipe. The newer pipe is then dragged through and literally “bursts” the old pipeline, replacing it.

Both methods – called bursting and lining – are considered equally effective and long lasting and usually cost varies depending on the situation.

Meanwhile traditional plumbing can cost anywhere from $3000 to $20 000 for:

  • Equipment rental
  • The digging work
  • The actual repair
  • Putting the digging site back in order
  • Labour & landscaping afterwards
  • Plus any additional costs, such as paying the city to reroute traffic while the yard is being dug up, or replacing sidewalk and driveway cement.

Benefits of Trenchless Pipe Lining:

  • Less costly
  • No heavy digging equipment
  • Yard, driveway and sidewalk are left intact
  • Landscaping and lawn are undisturbed
  • Long lasting, high quality repairs
  • Less disturbance to neighbours and traffic
  • High quality, long-lasting results (20+ years)

“They did a new sewer line for me last year.  Before the job Clint came and let me watch on the camera they sent down my line to show me exactly what the issues were.  They did a great job installing the new line without having to tear up the entire front yard and was able to work with our timeline and put everything back together nice and clean after too.”
